Courtney & Matt are a down to earth, fun-loving couple who I recently had the chance to work with for an engagement session at the Crooked Thumb Brewery and Safety Harbor Marina. I am photographing their wedding at the Kozuba Distillery but they also booked me for an engagement session. I love engagement sessions, as they are a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera and get some amazing pictures for save the dates, social media and more.
I really strive to get to know my couples the way a friend would. Therefore, I asked Courtney to tell me all about the moment her life changed forever- when Matt proposed.
They ventured from their home in sunny Safety Harbor to Asheville, NC. It was the first morning of their trip and they had planned an afternoon brewery tour at Sierra Nevada. They arrived a little early and decided to just hang out by an area with rocking chairs and fire pits and wait for the tour to start. There they were, with the beautiful landscape as their backdrop and outdoor setup of fire-pits, rocking chairs, and mountain views with no one else around. It was in that moment that Matt went for it! He was fumbling around in his camera bag behind her and the next thing she knew, he was down on one knee! And she CRIED like a baby! She truly had no idea!
Courtney and Matt met in a brewery, got engaged in a brewery and will be getting married at a brewery. So, for the engagement shoot, we figured we should keep the theme going! We started the session at the Crooked Thumb Brewery in Safety Harbor (somewhere they frequent often) and the surrounding area. We finished the session down at Safety Harbor Marina. Check out some of my favorite shots from the session below!
